Center director Dr. Joan Pennell was featured in the spring 2015 issue of the NC State Alumni Magazine. In the article, Dr. Pennell highlighted the center’s work across disciplines and agencies and its attention to emerging family issues, such as sexual orientation and gender identity in adolescents. She also spoke briefly on major obstacles to family stability like economic disparity, and explained the role of social workers as advocates, relationship-builders, and agents of empowerment for the people and communities they work with.
